As the Railyards project winds down to its conclusion, JEA can pat itself on the back for its successful involvement in an unique project.
Since 2001, the Songhees inner harbor area of Victoria has been undergoing a transformation from an abandoned industrial railyard into a waterfront community.
”It’s one thing to complete Phase 6 – it’s even more exciting to see the project in totality come to its completion,” says Senior Surveyor Mike Manson.

The sense of renewal and energy the development has brought to the area is inspiring, says Manson. “It has been transformed from a worn out industrial area into a vibrant, living, breathing thing,” he adds.     Â
JEA became involved in 2004 and has done a variety of work including surveying and engineering, maintaining the project database and Strata titling. Phase 6 began in 2010 and has involved filling in, compacting and compressing ground. The result of Phase 6 is 15 units of residential town houses in three buildings.
